Meter Readings
From a usage point record click
View Readings
to see meter readings and interval readings. The two types refer to:
- Meter readings. A reading taken at a point in time - also known as time of use (ToU).
- Interval readings. A sequence of readings taken at periodic intervals, usually of 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes.
First, select the Time of Use
or Load Profile
tabs and the reading type. Click Run
. Readings are presented in tabular format.
For ToU readings you can also select the accumulation:
- Cumulative readings, i.e. the dial reading at a specific point in time, usually at midnight on the turn of each new month
- Delta readings, the consumption in a specific time period
- Maximum demand, the largest rate of consumption in a specified time period
Column Name | Description |
---|---|
Period Start | The time at the beginning of the measurement period |
Period End | The time at the end of the measurement period |
Reading | Specific value measured by a meter or other asset. Each Reading is associated with a specific Reading Type. |
Quality | Flags indicating the meter reading's quality (see below) |
Reported | The time when Netstream acquired the reading |
Reason | The reason for taking the Reading |
Meter reading quality flags
Quality codes may be associated with an interval reading or meter reading value to indicate some attribute of the data. Netstream validates all meter readings and records appropriate quality flags to declare that the data are “valid” or have passed formal “validation” tests.
Quality Flag | Description |
---|---|
Null | Indicates a missing reading or unknown value. |
Actual | Indicates a reading as reported from a meter |
Overflow | Overflow condition detected |
Partial interval | Partial (short) interval due to clock change, power outage, etc. |
Skipped interval | Indicates the meter was not energised during the entire interval. Usually accompanied by a zero consumption reading for the interval. |
Power failure | Indicates the power failed during the interval |
Known missing read | Data is no longer stored in the meter |
Valiated | Data value has passed the Validation and Estimation checks |
Failed Reasonability | Data outside expected range |
Edited | Manually edited value |
Estimated | An estimated reading that is considered temporary and may be replaced by an Actual reading and relates to a period in the future |
Substituted | Substituted reading that is considered temporary and may be replaced by an Actual reading and relates to historical data |
Final | Final reading for substituions of a permanent nature. |

Visualising interval readings
From the Interval Readings tab click the View Load Profile
button to see a graph of the data values over time. Netstream displays the current channel's data on the Load Profile report.
