Energy Accounting

This is a premium feature

In a typical sub-metering scenario power is supplied to a building and distributed internally to tenancies and common areas. By installing a gate meter to measure energy supply and metering the individual tenancies and common areas to measure the load we can check that the supply and the load balance:

supply = load + residual

Where the residual is the sum of any unmetered loads plus measurement error and losses. Energy accounting refers to the process of checking that the supply and load balance - or at least that the residual error is explainable - thus confirming a metering installation is correct and that the power flows from the supply to the loads are explainable. The real power of energy accounting is that it explains the consumption of electricity by tenants financially covers the cost of supplying it.

The Energy Accounting Report provides a graphical comparison between the supply and load of a commodity at a location over a period of time. The report highlights any residual amount. When the supply is a virtual usage point its components are plotted in a stacked fashion. The same applies when the load is a virtual usage point.

Before the report can be run, its parameters must be selected. The set of parameters that produce an Energy Accounting report is named and saved for reuse.

To run the report

  1. If the desired report parameters have already been set-up, select these from the Name drop down. Otherwise, create the report parameters
  2. Select the time base.
    • Monthly: Average daily amount for the month
    • Daily: 24-hour interval readings
    • Hourly: Hourly interval readings
  3. Select one of the available report durations
  4. Select the end date of the report
  5. Click the Run button

Create the report parameters

  1. Click the Add button to display the Edit parameters dialog
  2. Enter a name to identify the report generated by these parameters
  3. Select the supply usage point by using the search field
  4. Specify the reading type for the supply
  5. Select the load usage point by using the search field
  6. Specify the reading type for the load
  7. Choose the default time base:
  8. Monthly: Average daily amount for each month
  9. Daily: 24-hour interval readings
  10. Hourly: Hourly interval readings
  11. Click the Ok button

The default time base can be modified at the time the report is run.

Edit the report parameters

  1. Select the desired report parameters from the Name drop down.
  2. Click the Edit button to display the Edit parameters dialog
  3. Make the desired modifications
  4. Click the Ok button

Delete the report parameters

  1. Select the desired report parameters from the Name drop down.
  2. Click the Delete button to display the Delete parameters dialog
  3. Review the parameters
  4. Click the Ok button
