Service Locations
A service location is the address to which a service is supplied. In a building complex it is quite common for the same service (such as electricity, hot water, thermal energy, etc.) to be supplied to multiple tenants and to be individually metered at each tenancy. Also common is to have one or more service kinds supplied to each tenancy.
The point at which a service is supplied to a customer is called a Usage Point. For example, a tenant (Tenant 1) may have two usage points - one for electricity and one for air conditioning. Usually usage points are metered so the service supplier can charge a fair price. To keep track of the usage points in a building, Netstream allows for a hierarchical structure at a service location to which usage points can be attached.

A common way of organising the usage points at a service location is to arrange them by floors and then by tenancy. Alternative ways to group usage points include a flat structure or by power transformer, distribution boards and switchboards. Contact the SBS Help Desk if you need to change the way usage points are presented.
Sometimes tenants only occupy some of the floor space at a service location, for example, a business might occupy two floors of a multi-storey building. Netstream groups usage points together to define those that you as a user have access to.
The Service Location screen lists all of the addresses to which services are supplied in your configuration. Use the search and filter boxes to quickly find a service location either by Usage point Group name or by entering the property address.
